Cardiopulmonary Department

As our name implies the CardioPulmonary department has a dual nature, Cardio (heart) and Pulmonary (lungs). As such the CardioPulmonary department at Medical Arts Hospital has a dual natured responsibility to our patients.

The Cardio part of our name indicates our dedication to cardiac and heart health related activities. In this capacity the department performs ECG's for hospital patients and as an Outpatient service to Physicians locally and out of town. Our computerized system allows us to send ECG's directly to medical records giving affiliated Physicians access to the records anytime. This process eliminates time and paperwork while simultaneously granting access to previous tests for comparison.

The department has also recently added the ability to perform exercise stress testing in conjunction with our local Physicians and visiting Cardiologists. An integral part of the team performing nuclear stress testing at MAH, our staff assists Radiology and Nursing with this highly technical procedure. Both exercise and nuclear testing are vital tools in diagnosing the presence and severity of cardiac disease. These diagnostic tools allow the community access to advanced and critical care in a timely and cost effective method.

Holter ECG Monitoring: this service allows our patients to wear a heart monitor for up to 30 days. Constant monitoring over time gives the Physicians a better understanding of intermittent cardiac events, allowing for accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of cardiac anomalies.

Sleep Study: Sleep studies are an essential tool for the diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Our system allows the patient to complete the study in the comfort of their own home. The accuracy of home testing rivals in-lab studies and provides a cost effective alternative. Once the test is complete, it is read by a board certified sleep Physician within 48 hours and a complete report is given to the local ordering Physician.
